Computer:
an electronic device, operating under the control of instructions stored in its own memory, that can accept data(input), process the data according to specified rules(process),produce result(output), and store the result(storage) for future use.
Six primary Components of computer:
input devices: any hardware that allows you to enter data, programs, commands, and user responses into a computer
eg: keyboard, mouse(->ponter),
system unit
the processor(control unit and arithmetic/logic unit):central processing unit(CPU), interprets and carries out the basic instructions that operate a computer.
memory: randon access memory(RAM), consists of electronic components that temporarily store instructions waiting to be executed by the processor, data needed by those instructions, and the results of processed data(information).
each 0,1 is a bit (use binary format to store, eg 2=00000010,42=00101010,R=01010010.......)
a memory location-byte=one character like a letter A
1 byte =8 bits
1kilobyte=2^10 bytes=10^3 bytes
1 megabyte=2^20bytes=10^6 bytes
1 gigabyte=2^30 bytes=10^9bytes
